Gill's Garden, 6th July 2020
Intense colours: red pink white, yellow purple and all the shades between - pathways arched over with branches and flowers - the rustle of the leaves as the taller trees caught the wind.

It was our original aim to visit some gardens multiple times to record their changes during the seasons. We last visited Gill in autumn, seeing her garden in summer with the plants at their peak was such a pleasure. Whereas before there was a slowing down of growth we were now presented with the energy and abundance that summer brings. I'm not really a flower person but just couldn't help myself - the gardens were so full of energy and life that I had to respond to them before I did any other sketching. Susan. |
Linda's Garden, 28 July 2020
Rampageous colours - bold shapes - soft shapes - pots spilling over - every kind of green - Dahlias, all sizes and colours - lush, deep lawn

Our final garden visit was to Linda again.
Despite a beautiful Summer it was a chilly and damp day to begin with but soon warmed up and the sun lit up the glorious blooms. What a contrast to January! The colours were joyful and vibrant, with a wild central bed whose plants were jostling for attention. So much to see, what a treat. I laid down a black acrylic base for my drawing and then applied various vivid acrylic pens to describe the intensity of colour. Sarah. |
